Hvidovre Hospital in Copenhagen Becomes the First Hospital in Denmark…

… To install Medclair’s centralised nitrous oxide destruction technology.

Medclair’s innovations create safer working environments while considerably reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Nitrous oxide (N₂O) – a gas commonly used in healthcare for pain relief and sedation – impact the environment in several ways, not least posing a threat to the ozone layer.

With Medclair’s Central Destruction Unit, Hvidovre Hospital in Copenhagen will now collect and destroy over 99% of the exhaled nitrous oxide from the largest maternity department in Denmark. In this department, more than 7 000 babies are born each year and 60–70 % of the labouring women receive nitrous oxide for pain relief.

The team at Medclair is proud to be supporting Hvidovre Hospital to offer women in labour a sustainable use of nitrous oxide, says Jannik Jensen, Global Product Manager at Medclair.
