Stiftelsen TEM is the R&D arm of Nordic Center for Sustainable Healthcare (NCSH) and the largest shareholder in NCSH Services AB.
History of TEM
TEM (the TEM Foundation) was established in 1981 as an interdisciplinary project at Lund University in Sweden. TEM was created to support knowledge transfer between private and public organisations and universities and colleges.
TEM stands for Teknik, Ekonomi and Miljö (Technology, Economy and Environment).
In 1984, the project became the TEM Foundation at Lund University. Over the years, TEM has been a driving actor in introducing and developing new approaches within the environmental field, including preventive environmental protection, environmental audits and environmentally driven product development.
TEM and Nordic Center for Sustainable Healthcare
In 2015, TEM initiated the Nordic Center for Sustainable Healthcare (NCSH), beginning a new era with an increased focus on sustainable healthcare and international cross-sectoral collaboration.
In 2025, TEM, together with private investors, established NCSH Services AB, which acquired the NCSH brand and network.
Today, TEM remains the research and development arm of NCSH, with a focus on external funding, research and development projects. TEM is also the largest shareholder in NCSH Services AB.
Together, TEM and NCSH Services AB work closely to support the continued development of Nordic Center for Sustainable Healthcare and its work to advance sustainability in healthcare.
