Side Event: Sustainable Healthcare in Practice – Nitrous Oxide Reduction at Lund University Hospital: ONLY 4 SPOTS LEFT
Description
Hosted by Region Skåne and Medclair, this side event will showcase how innovative technology and everyday clinical practice come together to reduce healthcare’s climate impact. Participants are invited to Lund University Hospital to learn about sustainable solutions in use, with a focus on nitrous oxide management in pediatric care.
Purpose of the Event
Nitrous oxide (N₂O) is a potent greenhouse gas, nearly 300 times stronger than CO₂. Widely used in healthcare, it poses both climate and occupational health challenges. Medclair’s Destruction Unit (MDU) provides an effective solution by capturing and destroying nitrous oxide at the source.
This session offers participants a first-hand look at how Lund University Hospital has integrated the MDU into daily operations, combining technical performance with improved working conditions for staff.
What to Expect
-Hospital Tour: Visit the pediatric department where the MDU is installed.
-Technical Overview: Learn how the system works and its role in reducing emissions.
-User Insights: Hear directly from nurses about their daily experience with the technology.
-Sustainability Perspective: Gain insight into how the hospital incorporates nitrous oxide reduction into its broader climate strategy.
