Medicon Valley Alliance (MVA) and the Nordic Center for Sustainable Healthcare have entered into a new strategic partnership to launch the CircuHealth initiative—an effort aimed at accelerating the transition towards circular procurement in hospitals across the Öresund region. This collaboration represents a significant step in strengthening cross-border efforts to build a more sustainable healthcare system.
The partnership has been awarded funding from the EU Interreg Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak programme, supporting its ambition to address shared challenges and create joint solutions across Sweden and Denmark.
Hospitals on both sides of the border have set ambitious climate targets, yet significant challenges remain in translating these ambitions into practice. Today, a lack of alignment, limited dialogue, and unclear requirements hinder the uptake of circular solutions; both for hospitals and for the companies ready to deliver them.
By bringing together hospitals, industry, and key stakeholders, the collaboration seeks to identify and better understand these barriers, while laying the foundation for more coordinated and scalable approaches to circular procurement.
