About Suturion
Suturion AB is a pioneering MedTech company based in Lund, Sweden, founded in 2018 by surgeon Gabriel Börner. Its innovation, SutureTOOL™, is designed to support surgeons in performing fascia closure according to the recommended small-bites technique, associated with reduced risk of post-operative complications and improved patient outcomes.
By enabling a standardized, efficient, and safe approach, SutureTOOL™ helps increase guideline compliance in clinical practice. Suturion’s mission is to improve patient outcomes in abdominal surgery while supporting a more efficient use of healthcare resources.
Sustainability is a natural extension of this mission. The healthcare sector generates significant amounts of plastic waste, creating a need for new, circular solutions. Through the Eurostars-funded Entrance project Suturion, together with Lund University, Zirq Solutions, and Redivivus Polymers, is developing a circular model for SutureTOOL™, covering collection, safe processing, and high-quality recycling, supported by a full life cycle assessment.
