We are happy to welcome a new member to our network - Greater Manchester Health & Social Care Partnership.
We let them introduce themselves:
Greater Manchester Health & Social Care Partnership is a public body which comprises of the NHS across Manchester (primary, secondary, mental health, ambulances etc.), the 10 local government Councils, the voluntary sector and Mayor of Manchester. The organization is a devolutionary model in which the £6bn health and social care budget is managed locally for the benefit of the people of Greater Manchester. Greater Manchester Health & Social Care Parthership enables transformational services to be adopted to further improve the health and lives of the Greater Manchester people, including preventative activities and taking a holistic view, such as implementing environmental and sustainability strategies.
Some of the environmental/sustainability activities include:
- Climate Emergency declared in Greater Manchester 2019
- Greater Manchester 5-year environmental plan 2019-24
There are many, many examples of positive environmental/sustainable activity across the NHS in Greater Manchester, including:
- Removing all usage of plastics in an NHS restaurant
- An Anaesthetist reducing the amount of gases being used in theatres
The NHS across Greater Manchester has a significant environmental footprint. Our view is that we all have a role to play in the climate emergency, and by working across Greater Manchester we are able to maximise synergies and share best practices to the benefit of the environment.
