YelloPort Elite™: Decarbonising Surgery
Surgical care’s environmental impact is significant, with UK operating theatres contributing 5.7 million tonnes of CO2e annually, along with 25% of hospital waste. A key contributor is the mass use of single-use plastic medical devices.
YelloPort Elite™, a hybrid Port Access System for minimally invasive surgery, reduces CO2e emissions by up to 73% and cuts clinical waste by 85% per laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Impact in India
Since its 2023 launch, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi has reduced CO2e by 5.1 tonnes annually, equivalent to 14,000 car miles and cut waste by 61 kg annually, equal to 3,080 plastic bottles.
Recognition & Growth
YelloPort Elite™ was nominated for a Prix Galien in 2023 and is used in 14% of Belgian hospitals. In the UK, a leading teaching hospital reduced CO2e by 2.6 tonnes and waste by 197 kg in 2022, with plans for expansion.
